Since this blog is starved of fresh content, I thought I should just go crazy and write about anything I get my hands on. And I do mean anything. What I planned to be a 1,000 word post became five times as long, which says a lot about the way I write and why I found being prolific rather difficult in the first place. My Top 5 Games of 2020 (and 2019)
For all the time there was available in the Year of Our Lord 2020, I didn’t play that many games. Not only have games become more and more expensive, but more and more of them are harder to run on this five-year-old computer. But I can say that every game I did get to play that year was a meaningful experience. They were the silver lining on the dark cloud that was 2020, a year that shall long live in infamy. (more…)
Mea Culpa on Having Called Mafia a “GTA Clone”
After much deliberation, I’ve decided to make a full post to take responsibility for something I’ve gotten flak for. At the start of my retrospective video on Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, I committed the gaffe of calling the game a “GTA clone”. Some may be puzzled at what may be wrong with that, and I’m still a bit on the fence on how wrong it really was to have done so. At first, I thought it’s like referring to caviar as “salty fish eggs”, which may upset connoisseurs, but is certainly true. But in this case, as I’ve found out, that would actually be a flat-out lie. (more…)
Mafia Retrospective — Heaven Lost in Time
This post is indeed late since this video was posted the week before, garnering a significant number of views compared to previous videos.
