There hasn’t been new content for over two weeks now, so I should give a bit of an update. More stuff is coming in December and I’m using the time left in 2016 to prepare for grinding harder and faster in 2017. In the meantime, I’ve had some problems to deal with, and they’re not pretty. It mostly has to do with the one thing that lets me keep this whole thing going—the Internet connection.
Never mind that I can’t play Overwatch properly with this damnable connection so far in December, I can’t finish videos quickly enough due to not being able to download assets and video clips fast enough. I have some coming down the pipeline, but there are clogs I have to wait to unclog at the moment. In the meantime, I really need to play the games that still need playing so I can do more reviews.
Current Situation with Internet Connection
As of this writing, our phone line has been in shit for more than a month and a half now. Apparently, crucial lines got accidentally cut and PLDT is trying to fix it now, albeit they’re still taking ye olde sweet time doing so. It started back in late October, and it’s now almost the middle of December.
The DSL connection didn’t take that much of a hit for most of the time when the landline was absent, but it has finally gotten shit earlier this week, and it has been a rather infuriating experience. If this is how I’ll have to spend Christmas, then I might as well just sleep and hope I never wake up.
I’ve been waiting for ISPs to get fiber optic to this area, but it seems that they’re more concerned with doing a shit job with choosing their customers. My friend already has Converge 50mbps connection, and I would sometimes have him upload videos as I’d take 4.5 hours for a half-hour video while he only takes 10 minutes.
If ever I do finally get the fiber optic connection, then I’ll be opening the floodgates for sure. Video uploads will be faster and I’ll be able to livestream regularly on Twitch. Hopefully, I’ll finally get some reprieve next year.
Upcoming Plans for December
Due to the Internet connection trouble, I will make a video of me ranting about PLDT sometime here in December. But before that, I’m doing a video about my thoughts on game reviews, complete with new presentation style I’ve been working on for a while now. It’s taking more work, but I’m doing my best to make it work.
I also need to work on two big reviews, one on a TV show and another on an anime series—I’ve mentioned about the latter in a previous update. I also need to jam a game review in for good measure so I can complete this month and be able to say I had a good 2016 somehow. There’s also a vlog I have to get through, telling the story of something that I was a part of 5 years ago that is very relevant to video games and eSports.
To close out the year, there will be a Top 10 Games of 2016 video, as I’ve always done every December since 2012. Also, I plan to put up another blog to focus on another topic—more on that by the end of the year. I know that I barely update this blog, but that’s because I don’t have much to say about this yet. However, I have plenty of things to say about that other topic, trust me.
