Becoming Prolific: My System of Content Creation

Content Creation

This whole Avoiderdragon thing has been kept alive to give me a reason to exist. I have to pay for domain and hosting every year, and I barely publish blog posts here. I can keep justifying it with various excuses, but the only good way to truly make it worth the effort and expense is to actually become prolific with content creation. This is how I will do it. Streaming Struggles and Dealing with Anxiety

Streaming

I’ve been trying to stream again on my Twitch channel, but it has been a struggle thus far. The most recent stream I did as of this writing was a very dissatisfying experience. I’ve been wanting to get going as a streamer and content creator for years; it occupied my mind for most of the 2010s. However, I was never able to go through with it due to the demands of life and my physical and psychological decline. (more…)

Favorite Game Meme, But Different

My Response to Favorite Game Meme, But Different

Since this blog is starved of fresh content, I thought I should just go crazy and write about anything I get my hands on. And I do mean anything. What I planned to be a 1,000 word post became five times as long, which says a lot about the way I write and why I found being prolific rather difficult in the first place. So, here’s a blog post on a game meme I responded to on a whim over a week ago. (more…)

Rethinking Controls in The Ancient Gods Part One

DOOM Eternal Controls

As of this writing, I still have not finished The Ancient Gods Part One, the first DLC for DOOM Eternal, in Hurt Me Plenty difficulty—as normal as a DOOM game can be. I planned to record a let’s play series for my third YouTube channel (a harebrained idea I’ve not executed on yet). However, I was dying so many times, I nixed the idea and realized that I had to fix my gameplay first. (more…)

Fujita’s Skull: 10th Year of Seanbaby’s Masterpiece

Fujita's Skull

Earlier in this blasted quarantine lockdown, I had the bright idea to do a reading of a particular online article published on Cracked.com that had just turned 10 years old. It gained a sort of cult following during that decade and boosted its writer as an online funnyman. Its proper title is “Worst Life Ever,” but it’s known better as its subject matter — Fujita’s Skull.

Call of Duty Mobile is My New Trash Game

Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile was something I thought I’d never care about, but ended up becoming a current mainstay in my daily routine. Since I don’t feel like playing StarCraft II these days due to the whole Blitzchung thing, I wanted to move on to something else. I played The Outer Worlds for two weeks, clocking in 120+ hours before feeling like I’ve seen everything I care to see. Then this game came about, and it has been a nice break. (more…)

Mulling Over Changing Review Scores

Reviews: Good or Bad?

Reviews on this blog seem like a farce now, or at least I think so. I try to make them as comprehensive and systematic as possible, but I also get lazy with writing each one and don’t do enough of them. When I think about a lot of the old reviews, I feel regret. In this blog post, I talk about rethinking my review process, wanting to change scores of past reviews, and coming to terms with being bad at this critique thing. (more…)

End of 2018 State of Affairs

Cuphead going eww

Time for another update post. The gap between the most recent post and what came before it is almost four months. That gap is due to life getting the best of me, and it’s becoming clear that I’m not making the most of what I pay to keep this website self-hosted. It’s not too serious, but it’s enough for me to want a change in my life. This is me trying to figure out what happened, what went wrong, and what can be done in the future. (more…)

Tried to Run a Show, Got a Faceplant

AVDR 2017

The recent lack of content is due to a much-needed adjustment period, forced by a tighter work schedule I took up earlier this year. While it has solved 99% of my financial woes, it also pushed everything else to the wayside. This coincided with finally getting a fiber optic connection, which was the last thing that could help me push videos out faster. But while I struggle to find the time to make more videos, I decided to do my own show, and I got mixed results so far. (more…)

WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Was Surprisingly Compelling

WWE Royal Rumble 2018

With a new format, here’s another attempt at being a pro wrestling journalist with half the talent and quarter the understanding. Royal Rumble 2018 was not bad at all, especially when compared to previous Rumbles that have mostly been about building whatever Vince McMahon saw as good. This time, it was obvious how the old genetic jackhammer had a lot less to do with this one due to the recent announcement of the new XFL venture (because second time lucky during his friend Trump’s administration). What is the Objective of My YouTube Channels?

YouTube

Since it’s still January and I’ve had a pretty good start this 2018, here’s another update of sorts. I swear this is the last site update I’ll post for a long while. It’s just that I felt I needed to put into writing what I have in mind for the two YouTube channels I run. Never mind that having two channels spreads me thin, but each do have its own purpose and goal. I wish to expound on that here, explaining the rationale behind having two of them and what I aim to accomplish with each. (more…)

Mea Culpa on Having Called Mafia a “GTA Clone”

Mea Culpa on Calling Mafia a "GTA Clone"

After much deliberation, I’ve decided to make a full post to take responsibility for something I’ve gotten flak for. At the start of my retrospective video on Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, I committed the gaffe of calling the game a “GTA clone”. Some may be puzzled at what may be wrong with that, and I’m still a bit on the fence on how wrong it really was to have done so. At first, I thought it’s like referring to caviar as “salty fish eggs”, which may upset connoisseurs, but is certainly true. But in this case, as I’ve found out, that would actually be a flat-out lie. (more…)
