Favorite Game Meme, But Different

My Response to Favorite Game Meme, But Different

Since this blog is starved of fresh content, I thought I should just go crazy and write about anything I get my hands on. And I do mean anything. What I planned to be a 1,000 word post became five times as long, which says a lot about the way I write and why I found being prolific rather difficult in the first place. So, here’s a blog post on a game meme I responded to on a whim over a week ago. (more…)

My Top 10 Games of 2016

2016 in Avoiderdragon

It seems like coming late with these annual top 10 games lists is now a tradition. Publishing a month late does give me more time and room to meditate on which games really moved me in the previous year, thus coming up with a better video and post to explain my feelings about my picks. With that said, I didn’t play as many games as I could have last year, which explains why I left so many good titles out. Despite that, I feel pretty good about this list of the ten best games of 2016 I got to play. (more…)

Denuvo and the Apparent Hubris of Anti-Piracy

Denuvo on Resident Evil 7 Cracked

With the seemingly lightning-fast recent cracking of Resident Evil 7, taking only 5 days since release, I thought a bit about Denuvo and the whole thing about DRM protection. Cracking groups have always been there to break the DRM of game releases, with names like RELOADED, RAZOR1911, 3DM, and CPY being familiar to those who have no qualms about pirating games, whether it’s to try them out or to be a complete freeloader. Whichever side you’re on in the discussion, perhaps we can all agree that this whole thing with Denuvo is pretty interesting. (more…)

DOOM First Impressions — Ultra Violence

DOOM (2016)

This post was only worked on four days after the video was made, but at least I’ve had a bit more time to think about what I like and don’t like about this game, especially without the rose-tinted glasses. There’s much to dig through with this game, especially with all the bad impressions the multiplayer beta gave. It turns out that the singleplayer is indeed good and fun to play, so I guess the beta only served to sow seeds of doubt about the new DOOM needlessly. (more…)

Old Tricks: Not-So-Good Stuff from E3 2015

E3 Expo: The Darker Side

After posting about the things I liked from E3 2015, I now put on my war face and talk about the stuff I didn’t like. When I was listing them down, I noticed that many of my negative opinions were many other people’s positive ones. With that, I knew I had to post this here to balance my little coverage of E3 2015 out and to attempt putting things into perspective. There are a lot of things to be excited about—even if that optimism may be seen by some as ill-advised—and there are a lot of things to raise eyebrows at. (more…)
