For all the time there was available in the Year of Our Lord 2020, I didn’t play that many games. Not only have games become more and more expensive, but more and more of them are harder to run on this five-year-old computer. But I can say that every game I did get to play that year was a meaningful experience. They were the silver lining on the dark cloud that was 2020, a year that shall long live in infamy. (more…)

Rethinking Controls in The Ancient Gods Part One

As of this writing, I still have not finished The Ancient Gods Part One, the first DLC for DOOM Eternal, in Hurt Me Plenty difficulty—as normal as a DOOM game can be. I planned to record a let’s play series for my third YouTube channel (a harebrained idea I’ve not executed on yet). However, I was dying so many times, I nixed the idea and realized that I had to fix my gameplay first. (more…)

DOOM Eternal Game Review: It’s Such a Video Game

My COVID-19 quarantine experience so far has been dominated by this game. Through all the anxiety, forced seclusion, and helplessness, I’ve spent much of that time killing demons and traversing obstacles in a game that was made to feel like a game. It’s undeniably a strong Game of the Year candidate for 2020, even if it’s not as perfect as I had hoped. (more…)
