Suddenly, Pirate Ninjas!

So after a few leaks from Ubisoft (whether intentional or not), we just got Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It features a setting in the high seas, where privateers are abound and booty is the objective, as well as a pirate assassin. What’s better than a pirate is a pirate-ninja, and that’s a dream combination. However, it does raise a concern, at least from how I see it. (more…)

Ballistics [Review]

Perhaps one of the fastest games you’ll ever play, along with some other racing games, old school FPS titles, and maybe Sonic the Hedgehog, Ballistics is all about breaking the speed barrier in your PC. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know about this game. (more…)

Cybercrime: My Thoughts on R.A. 8293

Anonymous Philippines

It seems that since the beginning of 2013, I have not posted a personal or editorial piece of any sort, which is supposed to be the reason why I put this website up in the first place. I don’t claim to have any authority that makes my thoughts and opinions the most credible stuff you’ll ever read, most likely far from it. However, I see this as an exercise to write more outside of work, especially about relevant issues. For this first full-blown editorial of the year, I talk about a particular bill that has caught quite a bit of attention recently concerning “Cybercrime.” (more…)

Surgeon Simulator 2013 (Free) [Review]

This is a rather fun game that can get frustrating fast. It’s about testing your coordination, focus, and patience. Oh man, you better have patience in this game since it will make your hands itch and you screaming for vengeance. You then kill the patient by making him bleed out, and then you try again. (more…)

[FIRST LOOK] Path of Exile

Here’s Path of Exile, which has recently commenced its open beta phase. So far, it’s looking pretty good, and the feeling of wonderment is already beyond what I felt when I first played Diablo III. It’s one of those passion projects, and the players are responding with high expectations (more…)

The Typing of the Dead [Review]

Here’s a retro game review of what I feel is perhaps one of the best games I’ve ever played, especially since I type for a living. The Typing of the Dead is an unusual game for many, but I see it as a form of training and therapy that has helped me with both my occupation and my state of mind. Yes, it really does go that deep for me. Also included here is my first official review video. (more…)

Top 10 Games of 2012

When the new year comes around, people all over the Internet would usually give their own top ten list of whatever came out during the outgoing year, and I guess I’m no different. I do like to quantify and enumerate my subjective experiences, and video games is my main thing right now. I had a lot of fun with all of these games and I would like to share my experiences to you, so here are my top ten games for the year 2012. (more…)

StarCraft II: Problems with PvT – Entry 01

Terran — my biggest problem in StarCraft II as a Protoss player. Filthy Terrans keep beating me, even when I started to discover the power of Templars. It should be easy since Terran can only go bio in Wings of Liberty. However, between stim timings and marine-tank pushes, I’ve been powerless against such onslaught. This is my journey towards learning how to fight against the Terran menace. (more…)

LEARN: StarCraft II – Mechanics and Hotkeys

Perhaps what separates StarCraft II from most other games is the player’s ability to perform multiple actions in a short period of time to paint a picture on the battlefield. The objective is to control bases and armies with the least amount of effort possible, but it’s not exactly an easy task since (more…)

Surviving the Cybercrime Law

The Philippines is now under Republic Act No. 10175, more commonly known as the Cybercrime Act of 2012. It’s an unusual law that was enacted in lieu of various online incidents that may have had some politicians scrambling for solutions. Since it seems that the law will become a big part of life in Manila, here are a few suggestions on how to survive the new online badlands. (more…)
