DOOM Eternal Game Review: It’s Such a Video Game

My COVID-19 quarantine experience so far has been dominated by this game. Through all the anxiety, forced seclusion, and helplessness, I’ve spent much of that time killing demons and traversing obstacles in a game that was made to feel like a game. It’s undeniably a strong Game of the Year candidate for 2020, even if it’s not as perfect as I had hoped. (more…)

Prey is an Almost Perfect Game for Me

Prey (2017)

There are two games named Prey. There’s one from 2006 that had gravity walkways and astral projection as a gameplay mechanic. Then, there’s the new one in 2017 that had people jamming surgical devices into their eyes to learn new skills, which turned out to be made from aliens. I got to play the new Prey recently, and it gave me the same feeling I get from Deus Ex, the Resident Evil 2 remake, and BioShock combined. (more…)

Best Build for Learning Fallout 4

Fallout 4 Vault Boy

It has been well over a month since its release, and I’ve played one character for most of that time. I only got to post this now during the Holiday season due to work. For the first playthrough, I think players must be able to experience as much of the game as possible to get as complete of an impression of how it is as a whole and to enjoy it as much as possible. Whether you actually go with this build or disagree with it, it’s still important to play it the way you want. But if you ask me, the best build for your first character must be one that lets you see close to everything and get your money’s worth. (more…)

Fallout 4 First Look

Fallout 420

This is a couple of days late, but I still got this out to not back down on my commitment to making more videos (which I’ve backed out on repeatedly for most of the year). I’ve planned on making videos on Fallout 4 the whole time prior to release, so I might as well fulfill this promise. I may go through with Fallout 4 playthrough videos and such, as well as my own review. Meanwhile, here’s a video on my first impressions of the game. (more…)

Pre-release Build Ideas for Fallout 4

Fallout 4: Protagonist and Dog

As of this writing, it’s less than a week until Fallout 4 comes out. Being too excited for it, I’d been looking for new info and stumbled upon a page detailing the new perk system, complete with descriptions for each perk. This immediately resulted in me coming up with character concepts and builds to prepare for release. I rarely get excited for day one of a new game, but this is Fallout 4—I’m taking a week off for this. (more…)

Where’s Our Cut, Fool? On Paid Mods and Steam Workshop

It’s undeniable at this point that mods do very well in extending the lifespan of any game that supports their use. Publishers who leave them out are said to be behind the times, and those who are in the vogue seem to have been looking for ways to get in on the action. Their efforts have now culminated to this, and what seemed good now doesn’t. What seemed like a helping hand at first later became a stick-up, if you wish to see this truly as a travesty. Whatever your thoughts are on what’s happening in Steam Workshop at this point, all you have to do is look at Steam Greenlight and think about what you’d give your money for. (more…)
